A fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel held on Tuesday after early violations, prompting U.S. President Donald Trump to criticize both nations for their prolonged conflict. Israel accused Iran of launching missiles after the truce began with explosions reported and two missiles intercepted. Iran denied any attacks despite sirens and blasts in northern Israel. Trump expressed frustration, suggesting both sides had broken the agreement and speculating Iran’s actions might have been accidental. However he later stated that the ceasefire was ultimately preserved.

The U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to resume deporting migrants to countries other than their own without first evaluating the dangers they might face there. This decision lifts a previous judicial order that had required officials to give migrants a chance to argue they could face torture in those destinations. The court’s unsigned, brief order came from its 6-3 conservative majority and did not include any reasoning. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by the two other liberal justices, strongly dissented, calling the move a “gross abuse” of judicial power.
