Apple has announced an additional $100B investment in the U.S., adding to its previous $500B pledge amid pressure from Donald Trump to shift manufacturing stateside. The investment aims to expand Apple’s domestic supply chain including new data centres and a smart glass production line in Kentucky. Trump praised Apple for its efforts noting the company would avoid a proposed 100% tariff on chips and semiconductors by producing more in the U.S. Tim Cook confirmed the initial investment was already delivering results and emphasized the new funding would boost U.S. production of key Apple components.
