The British government has announced plans to lower the voting age to 16, making the U.K. one of the few countries globally to allow such young voters in national elections. This fulfills a campaign promise by the ruling Labour Party and is part of broader democratic reforms. Supporters argue that 16 and 17 year olds deserve a say in governance as they contribute through work and taxes, while critics claim the move benefits the Labour Party politically. Legislation will be introduced in Parliament, where the government holds a strong majority to enact the change.

Donald Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency – a condition where weakened vein valves prevent blood from flowing efficiently back to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs, after experiencing mild swelling in his legs. White House press-sec Karoline Leavitt also addressed visible bruising on Trump’s hand attributing it to handshaking and use of aspirin. The medical update was shared to dispel speculation about the 79-year-old president’s health although Trump has typically kept such details private. An earlier physical exam in April did not mention the condition and reported normal blood flow with no signs of swelling.
